Improving presenting skills
Some more information:
2-days course (physically in Karlsruhe), 13-14 November 2024, each day 9-17 (with breaks)
It is becoming increasingly important for researchers to be able to communicate their topics convincingly and understandably and to present them well. They often only have a few minutes to do this, for example when giving a poster presentation at a scientific conference. The aim is to present your own research topic as succinctly and understandably as possible. The range extends from a technical presentation to colleagues to a well understandable and catching pitch for decision-makers.
The participants train how to optimize their presentations for the respective target group. They improve their own appearance and learn to prepare and present their content in such a way that their audience understands it. Under the guidance of the lecturer, they learn in practical exercises what an effective presentation can look like. Individual feedback through video analysis makes the participants fit for future presentations.
The seminar's thematic focuses are:
• Core message - getting to the point
• Target groups - knowing and reaching the audience
• Presentation form, style and goal - the framework of the presentation
• Narrative styles and storytelling - telling science in an exciting way
• Attention - increasing and maintaining it
• Appearance, facial expressions and gestures - the effect on stage
